COD Softball has a hard time harnessing the Comets, 11-2

COD (3-23; 1-12) hosted the number nine team in California and found some small victories in the five inning loss to the San Marcos Palomar Comets (21-10; 12-0), 11-2.

Sophomore catcher Darbie Catalfamo (Indio Shadow Hills) had her third multi-hit game of the season and grabbed her fifth extra base hit of the season, a double in the bottom of the fifth, she was the only Roadrunner to get hits on the afternoon as the Comets starting pitcher tossed a two hitter.

Freshman designated hitter Saki Hirata (Tokushima (Japan) Joto) collected a run batted in and freshman third baseman Rebecca Alford (Thermal Coachella Valley) and Catalfamo scored a run each in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference contest.

Sophomore left handed starting pitcher Amanda Martinez (Indio H.S.) struggled in her ninth loss of the season in the circle, tossing four complete, surrendering 11 runs, ten earned, on 13 hits, walking two and striking out two. 

The final home game of the 2017 season is Sophomore Day on April 19th when the Roadrunners host San Diego City, first pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
