PALM DESERT, Calif. -- College of the Desert (11-13, 1-4) women's basketball staked out to a huge lead in the first half, before coasting to a 73-48 win over visiting Victor Valley on Wednesday evening in Palm Desert.
Freshman guard Reina West (San Jacinto, CA/San Jacinto HS) led the Lady Roadrunners with 19 points on 8-18 (44 percent) shooting. Sophomore guard Bianca Gutierrez (Palm Desert, CA/Palm Desert HS) scored a season-high 17 points, as she knocked down five three-pointers. Freshman center Ashley Preist (Yucca Valley, CA/Yucca Valley HS) recorded her 10th double-oduble of the season with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
College of the Desert returns to the court next Wednesday for a 7 p.m. Foothill matchup at Chaffey.
