COD Women’s Basketball has 3 named All-Conference

COD Women's Basketball players, Lexie Jackson, Mercades Young and Jerrica Perez were named All-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference.

Under the tutelage of veteran coach Ronald "Skip" Parry, in his 6th season at the helm, Desert Women's Basketball ended the 2016-2017 season with a record of 6-20 overall and 2-6 in Conference, finishing fourth.

On the court, sophomore forward Lexie Jackson (La Quinta H.S.) was named first team all-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference. She finished 1st in Conference and 9th in the state with 57 total blocks on the season, Jackson also finished the season averaging a double-double per game. She finished 4th in the Conference with 13.4 points per game and tops in the Conference with a 12.3 rebounds per game average. She finished 11th in the state in total boards with 307 on the season. Jackson had a season high 25 points at the Cuesta Tournament on December 2nd. She collected nine double-double games this past season and had a season high eight blocks and 25 boards against MiraCosta on November 19th.

Freshman guard Mercades Young (Moreno Valley Vista Del Lago) was named second team all-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference. She finished second on the team with 11.2 points per game average and had three games of over 20-points, sinking a season high 28 points at home on February 4th against MiraCosta.

Named honorable mention was sophomore forward Jerrica Perez (Indio Shadow Hills). She finished 3rd on the team in total points with 224, averaging 9.3 points per game. Perez was a deadly 75% from the free throw line, going 27 of 36 from the line for the season and had a season high 35 points against MiraCosta at the Cuesta Tournament on December 2nd. She scored in double digits ten times during the 2016-17 season.
