COD Women's Basketball sophomore forward Jerrica Perez (Indio Shadow Hills) has signed a letter of intent with Nebraska Christian College.

Perez was named honorable mention All-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference this past season. She finished 3rd on the team in total points with 224, averaging 9.3 points per game. Perez was a deadly 75% from the free throw line, going 27 of 36 from the line for the season and had a season high 35 points against MiraCosta at the Cuesta Tournament on December 2nd. She scored in double digits ten times during the 2016-17 season.

Under the tutelage of veteran coach Ronald "Skip" Parry, in his 6th season at the helm, Desert Women's Basketball ended the 2016-2017 season with a record of 6-20 overall and 2-6 in Conference, finishing fourth.

Perez stated the reason she chose NCC is because, "It's a smaller school, where I can really focus on my studies and I didn't want to stay in California to complete my education." Perez continued, "The Women's Basketball team is good and I was raised as a Christian and I wanted to go to a Christian school."

Nebraska Christian College of Hope International University is located in Papillion, Nebraska, which is about 20 miles southwest of Omaha, Nebraska. Jenna Bloodworth will coach the NCC Sentinels and this is the first year of competition for NCC in Women's Basketball. NCC is in the Central Region of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Division I.
