COD Women's Golf snags 4th place finish in first OEC event of 2021

COD Women's Golf began defense of their most recent Conference title by opening the 2021 season under difficult conditions, the team finished 4th and freshman Demi Preece (Imperial H.S.) collected a 10th place individual finish.

The Roadrunners sent six participants to its first event. The heat and humidity were on full blast as Desert opened Orange Empire Conference (OEC) play at the par-72 Country Club at Soboba Springs in San Jacinto.

Desert would finish with 380 points, which was 49 strokes ahead of fifth place finisher, Fullerton. Saddleback would win the event with 307 points.

Preece led the way for the Roadrunners, shooting an eight-over 80 and sophomore Lehapi Veikune Taungahihifo (Rancho Mirage H.S.) shot a 10-over 82.

Freshman Daneah Jackson (Cathedral City H.S.) shot a 106 and freshman Natalie LeBeau (Desert Hot Springs H.S.) shot a 112.

Close behind was freshman Yvonne Pretorius (La Quinta H.S.) who shot a 113 and freshman Mayra Acosta (Thermal Desert Mirage) who shot a 124.

COD will make their next appearance at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Course in Mission Viejo on Monday, September 13 as they continue OEC play.
