COD Women's Golf: Taungahihifo tops after 1st round of the OEC Finals

COD Women's Golf finished 3rd as a team, receiving great performances from Yvonne Pretorius and Lehapi Veikune Taungahihifo at the most critical time.

The Roadrunners sent six participants to its tenth event, as Desert traveled to their ninth Orange Empire Conference (OEC) event of the season, this time the event was at the Menifee Lakes Country Club (Lakes Course) in Menifee.

Desert would finish with 352 points, which was 38 strokes ahead of fourth place finisher, Cuyamaca. Orange Coast would win the event with 317 points.

Sophomore Lehapi Veikune Taungahihifo (Rancho Mirage H.S.) once again led the way for the Roadrunners, with her second-best round of 2021, shooting an impressive 75, which was good enough to lead the field after round one. Taungahihifo will be the clubhouse leader, by one stroke, going into Wednesday's final round.

Freshman Demi Preece (Imperial H.S.) shot a strong 84 and freshman Yvonne Pretorius (La Quinta H.S.) shot her best round of 2021, shooting an 86.

Freshman Daneah Jackson (Cathedral City H.S.) shot a 107, tying for her third best round of 2021 and freshman Mayra Acosta (Thermal Desert Mirage) shot a 111 for her second best round of 2021.

Freshman Natalie LeBeau (Desert Hot Springs H.S.) shot a 124.

COD will make their final regular season appearance at Menifee Lakes Country Club (Lakes Course) in Menifee on Wednesday, November 3 as they conclude OEC play.
