COD Women’s Golf: Taungahihifo named All-State, team finishes 5th at State Finals

COD Women's Golf finished 5th as a team and Lehapi Veikune Taungahihifo collected an All-State honor, finishing 4th individually.

The Roadrunners sent six participants to its final event of the season, the CCCAA State Championship, this time the event was at the Cypress Ridge Golf Course, on California's Central Coast, in Arroyo Grande.

Desert would take the over 5 hour drive north for the two-day event, finishing with 709 points, which was 9 strokes ahead of sixth place finisher, Sierra. Modesto would win the event with 625 points.

Sophomore Lehapi Veikune Taungahihifo (Rancho Mirage H.S.) who was tied for 4th after the first round, shooting a 74 on Sunday, followed that performance up, leading the way for the Roadrunners, with a 75. After tallying the event scores, Taungahihifo would be named to the All-State team, finishing 4th individually, only the top six individual finishers are named to the All-State team.

Freshman Demi Preece (Imperial H.S.) shot a strong 83 on Sunday and followed that up by tying her second-best score of the season in Monday's Final Round, shooting an 82.

Freshman Yvonne Pretorius (La Quinta H.S.) who shot near her season average (97.4) on Sunday, shooting a 99, went out and nearly had her second-best round of the year on Monday, dropping six strokes and shooting a 93 in the Final Round.

Freshman Daneah Jackson (Cathedral City H.S.) was a star for the Roadrunners in Monday's Final Round. After shooting near her season average (110.8) on Sunday, 113, she turned around and dropped 14 strokes off of her Sunday score and nailed a season best 99 on Monday.

Freshman Mayra Acosta (Thermal Desert Mirage) shot a 123 on Sunday, then shot a 119 on Monday and freshman Natalie LeBeau (Desert Hot Springs H.S.) shot a 104 on Sunday and then a 111 on Monday.
