COD Women's Golf wraps up 4th place at OEC Championships

COD Women's Golf finished 4th as a team, qualifying the Roadrunners for the SoCal Regional tournament and Lehapi Veikune Taungahihifo was named All-Conference.

The Roadrunners sent four participants to its eleventh event, as Desert traveled to their tenth and final Orange Empire Conference (OEC) event of the season, this time the event was at the Temecula Creek Golf Club in Temecula. Desert would finish with 373 points on day one and 358 on day two for a total of 731, which was 53 strokes ahead of fifth place finisher, Cuyamaca. Mt. San Antonio would win the event with 647 points.

Sophomore Lehapi Veikune Taungahihifo (Rancho Mirage H.S.) who shot an 83 on Monday, followed that performance up on Wednesday with an 82, leading the way for the Roadrunners. Sophomore Jensen Kelly (Imperial (SK) Imperial School) shot an 88 on Monday, then shot an 89 on Wednesday. Freshman Kayla Speer (Yucaipa H.S.) would drop nine strokes from round one, to shoot an 87 in Wednesday's Final Round. And sophomore Samantha Miller (Valley Center H.S.) wrapped up the event for the Roadrunners, dropping six strokes from her Monday effort, to shoot a 100 in the finale.

COD will make their next appearance at Temecula Creek Golf Club in on Sunday, November 5 as they participate in the SoCal Regional Final and look to qualify for the CCCAA State Championship.
