2017 Season in Review - COD Women’s Soccer

Palm Desert, CA November 16, 2017 – Third year head coach Garrett Estrin guided his team to a 4-17 overall record and a 0-10 conference record. With their sixth place finish, the team was bestowed three All-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference honors.

Those named to this year's All-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference list was sophomore midfielder Melita Pena (La Quinta H.S.), sophomore midfielder Analise Anzaldua (Indio H.S.) and freshman defender Taylor Doyle (La Quinta H.S.).

Pena had a multi-goal game performance against Southwestern and Imperial Valley, where she scored two goals in a home game against Southwestern in an 8-0 demolition. She had one of the most powerful shots in conference, taking 56 on the year, as she connected on six goals and assisted on 10 goals.

Anzaldua had her best game of the year against San Diego City on October 13, where she scored a goal and had an assist, totaling three points toward her overall nine on the season. Doyle helped anchor a defense that supplied two team shutouts against Cuyamaca and Imperial Valley, assisting in five goals throughout the season.

The Roadrunners displayed moments of brilliance throughout the entirety of a hard fought season. For Desert Women's Soccer head coach, Garrett Estrin and his program, there are many things to look forward to in the upcoming season. The 2017 Roadrunners featured 16 freshman and as we move into the 2018 season, it should be a thrilling campaign.
