COD Women’s Tennis returns after hiatus, falls to the Arabs, 7-2
COD (0-1) returned to the court for the first time since April of 2016, opening the 2018 season with a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference road match at the Imperial Valley Arabs (1-0), where the Roadrunners fell, 7-2.
Freshman Andrea Rapan (Thermal Coachella Valley) and freshman Claudia Stepien (Palm Desert H.S.) dominated their doubles match, grabbing an 8-1 victory, but the remaining doubles partners fell short in their face-offs.
In singles action, Stepien won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0 and Rapan lost her first set, 6-2, then fought back to win her second set, 7-6, going into extras she lost, 7-2.
Freshman Annaya Zubick (Palm Springs H.S.), freshman Sariah Sanchez (Indio Shadow Hills), freshman Ana Laura Ochoa-Castillo (Albuquerque (NM) Atrisco Heritage Academy) and freshman Daniela Ramirez (Cathedral City H.S.) all fell in straight sets.
Imperial Valley defeated College of the Desert 7-2, in a PCAC women's tennis dual match played at Southwest High School in El Centro.
