COD Women’s Volleyball: Garcia-Marquez signs letter with Westcliff

COD Women's Volleyball sophomore outside hitter Naomi Garcia-Marquez (Rancho Mirage H.S.) has signed a letter of intent with Westcliff University.

The 5-8, outside hitter and middle blocker, played in all 23 games in her sophomore season, starting 13 of those matches and grabbing 31 kills, 33 digs and eight total blocks. Garcia-Marquez played in eight matches in her freshman season.

Garcia-Marquez was an All-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division Honorable mention for her efforts and was also a standout on the Beach, partnering with freshman right side Kendal Campbell-Faynor (White Rock (BC) Semiahoo Secondary) for the most of the 2019 Beach season as the Roadrunners "Three's Team."

The 2019 Volleyball season was the eighth year for co-head coaches Marion Champion and Detlev Rothe as Desert ended the season with a record of 15-9 overall and 8-2 in Conference, winning the inaugural Inland Empire Athletic Conference (IEAC) title and their first title since 2007. The 2019 season was truly a season of firsts for the Roadrunners including: knocking off LA Pierce for the first time ever and winning 9 of 10 matches from September 28th through November 15th.

Wescliff University is located in Irvine, California. The Westcliff Warriors play their home games at Santiago Canyon College and the team is coached by head coach, Derrick Trent. In 2019 season, the Warriors concluded the year with a 15-9 overall record. The Warriors are in the California Pacific Conference (CalPac) of the NAIA.
