2016 Season in Review - COD Men's Soccer

Under the tutelage of sixth-year coach Jose "Pipo" Castillo, Desert Men's Soccer ended the year with a 3-14-3 overall record and a 3-11-2 conference record. As a reward for their eighth place finish in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference, the team was bestowed with an All-Conference honor.
COD Men’s Soccer left frustrated by tie with Comets, 1-1

COD (3-13-3; 3-10-2) held a 1-0 lead for most of the match, but a defensive miscommunication left an opportunity and the home side had to settle for a draw with the San Marcos Palomar Comets (5-10-5; 4-8-3), 1-1.

COD (3-12-2; 3-9-1) was left looking for answers after allowing four goals in the first half, finally getting on the board in the second half in a loss to the San Bernardino Valley Wolverines (10-4-5; 8-3-2), 7-1.

COD (3-11-2; 3-8-1) could not get going in their Pacific Coast Athletic Conference game, with only six shots the visiting defense was stifling as the Roadrunners fell to the El Cajon Cuyamaca Coyotes (7-4-6; 7-2-4), 6-0.
COD Men’s Soccer falls in PK battle with Jaguars, 3-2

COD (2-9-2; 2-6-1) took an early lead, but fell short in a game that came down to a pair of penalty kicks late in a game that saw over 30 fouls called, the Chula Vista Southwestern Jaguars (7-6-1; 5-3-1) would take the game 3-2.
COD Men’s Soccer left looking for answers in loss to Olympians, 2-1

COD (2-8-2; 2-5-1) tied the game late in a dramatic goal to take a 1-1 lead going into halftime, but a PK in the second half, helped the San Diego Mesa Olympians (5-2-6; 3-0-4) sneak past the Roadrunners, 2-1.

Three College of the Desert Men's Soccer players, freshman forward Masataka Kosugi (Tokyo, Japan Jindai Senior), freshman midfielder Lucas M. Rezende (São Paulo, Brazil) and freshman forward Joao Paulo Stefano-Leite (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Carlos Drummond de Andrade) were recently named to the 2016 CCCAA Academic All-State Team.
